I’ve got some gold for you today.
I believe this is the very first step to getting whatever you want in life.
It’s a crucial step. You must take this step if you want to get whatever it is you want in life.
If you want happiness, fulfillment, love, money, a career, adventure, experience… if you want something out of life — and I know you do — then you must take this step.
Sometimes people miss it. It’s going to be obvious when I tell you, but it’s likely you’re missing it as well.

The First Step to Getting What
You Want
The first step to getting what you want out of life is to DECIDE, exactly and specifically, what you want to do, to have, or to become in your life.
It sounds obvious…
“Of course, in order to get what I want I need to know what I want.”
97% of people in the world do not know what they want. They haven’t sat down and really decided, “What do I want?”
They may know what what their family wants for them. They may know what what their friends are doing so they’re doing the same thing and they think that’s what they want.
They may look at what society has told them is a smart or logical thing to do, but they have not decided what they really want for THEMSELVES.
And it’s likely you might be in this situation as well.
If you are, you can feel it. You can feel it in your gut.
And it’s okay.
Because now you know the first step, the crucial step, that will kickstart your journey to getting whatever it is you want.
Action Steps
Here is what I suggest you do:
ACTION.
Take action. You can never get anywhere without taking action, and you can never get anywhere new without taking a new action. So here is the new action I want you to take:
Block out an hour of your time. Take out a pen (not a pencil) and a piece of paper. Write at the top: “This Is What I Want Out Of Life.”
Then take the FULL hour and think about anything and everything you could ever want out of life. Don’t place any limitations there. Have fun with it!
You’re deciding what you want out of life. This is The Catalog of Life.
Nothing is free. It has a price. But everything is in there. You can choose it.
So go through this catalog and decide, “Okay, I want this. This sounds fun. I’d like to do this. I’d like to try this one day. This sounds meaningful. This is what I really want to do. That is the #1 thing I want to do in life…”
Put it all in there. It doesn’t matter if it’s just something you think would be cool, or if it’s something that seems almost impossibly incredible if you were able to do it, or if it’s something that really touches your soul and who you are.
Write down all of it.
Take the full hour. Even if you think you’ve run out of things a half an hour into it, sit there for the hour. I really believe that you will discover some hidden gems within yourself — things that you truly want out of life.
After this, you will have taken the first step.
Life Is About More Than Just
“Being Okay”
I won’t be there (most likely) but I congratulate you for taking this step. Most people in the world don’t, and they flounder about, following what other people are saying and doing.
The issue with this is that, over the long term, it doesn’t lead you to the kind of fulfillment your soul is searching for.
In your conscious mind, intellectually, you may be thinking, “Okay, I’m doing okay. I’ve got these couple things going on.”
But I don’t believe that life is just about being okay.
I believe life is about being fulfilled and feeling amazing. It’s about pursuing things you really want in life. It’s not just the attainment of the things you want, it’s actually the pursuit of the things you really want that will drive so much happiness and fulfillment for you.
Now, I must make this caveat:
It won’t likely be easy.
What’s easy is just going with whatever is laid before you. What is quite a bit more challenging is deciding what you really want and going for it.
Because sometimes the things you truly want are not the things your family thinks you should do. They’re not the things your friends are doing. They might be unconventional. They might not necessarily be logical.
If you have been following me for a while, you know I talk about following your heart. Following your heart isn’t necessarily something that’s “logical,” but you know in your gut that it’s the right thing for you.
Or, at the very least, it will be the first step towards the thing or things for you.
My Experience After Taking
This Step
When I did this over four years ago, I decided that I wanted to travel around the world and start an online business. This wasn’t necessarily a very logical thing to do at the time.
I was an economics major. I would’ve gone into market analysis and things of that nature. Which is stable, and you can make good money, but it wasn’t what I truly wanted for my life.
And I knew:
“Run an online business and travel around the world.”
To me, this is one of the greatest lives and lifestyles I could possibly live. I knew there would be a price to pay for that. And I did.
It took a long time — over four years. And I went through a lot of challenge and a lot of struggle, BUT…
I went through that voluntarily.
I could have given up at any point in time. But I went through that voluntarily because it’s what I really wanted out of life.
And what I want for you is this:
You don’t need to find your passion. You don’t need to find the one thing you’re going to do for the rest of your life. Don’t put that much pressure on yourself.
This is The Catalog of Life! It’s here for you to choose whatever you desire.
Take that hour and brainstorm all the different things you could ever want out of life. I’m sure there will be at least one thing in there that you look at and say to yourself, “I think I’d really, really, like that.”
Then you might be impelled to start moving towards it.
So, do this for yourself. Don’t think about your friends. Don’t think about your family. Don’t think about anyone else.
More than likely you are always thinking about other people. Do this for yourself. Take this hour just for you, and see what you can come up with.
Then feel free to send me an email and let me know how it goes.
